Arkansas.Net
was formed in September of 1996 with an introductory launch date
of October 13, 1996 at the Arkansas Business Expo in Little Rock,
Arkansas.
Routers, blimps,
balloons, and cars in the booth were just the beginning. Half
of the equipment that runs our network was on display that day
and put into our operational network the day after the exhibition
closed.
We accepted
our first dial up customer on November 24, 1996. In our first
year of operation, 1996, we ended the year with a grand total
of 144 customers, but Arkansas.Net was on its way. During this
time we were a work in progress as our offices were built from
the ground up around our network core. The first room completed
was our Central Arkansas Network Operations center, followed by
our Fayetteville and Pine Bluff Operation Nodes.
We have seen
our customer base move steadily up to 20,000 customers as we entered
the new millennium. Arkansas.Net has continued to expand with
our customer base, staff, locations and operational facilities.
Today, Arkansas.Net's
corporate headquarters is located in downtown Fayetteville, AR
at the E.J. Ball Plaza Building. Housed at our 112 West Center
location is the Network Operations Center, Administrative Offices,
Accounting, and Network Operations. Arkansas.Net maintains a second
facility that houses both sales and technical support staff only
a few blocks away.
Arkansas.Net
continues to strive to be the best Internet company in the State
of Arkansas. We have customers from all over the state, in all
walks of life. This is what the Internet is about, communication
pure and simple. Arkansas.Net is proud to be a part of this ongoing
revolution.
